Grizzly on the shore

I have spend the latest couple of weeks with nice friends, music, books, dvd's and enjoying the weather. So nothing new really, except the weather.

Grizzly Man turned out to be the best in the pile of dvd's. I had read a lot about the documentary before even watching it, but still it amazed me. Beautiful shots of Alaskan nature and grizzly bears. And a portrait of a troubled man, who really just wants to be a bear himself.

I finished Haruki Murakamis Kafka on the Shore. The title says it all...mysterious and intriguing. I wont even begin to tell about the storyline. You have to read it yourself. Please do, I need someone to discuss it with.

A batch of live shows

Dúné

Dúné a new young danish group with lots of potential. A lot of early 80's inspiration. They were fabulous.
Cold War Kids. Been enjoying Robbers & Cowards for a long time, and was excited to see them. Great show. The front singer Nathan Willett was amazing. He sings with such power.
The Concretes. A bit dissappointing. They just didn't reach the right level and sounded to much like a schoolband, because of the poor singing. A shame because they have plenty of good songs.
Shout Out Louds. Pure indiepop energy with Robert Smith-like vocals. Or as my friend said: The Cure on speed!

Must get my hands on

  • The Nationals Boxer. Oh the reviews! Listened to a couple of tracks and loved it.

  • Haruki Murakami's latest novel After Dark, to be released May 8. I'm all absorbed by Kafka on the Shore at the moment. Can't wait to read the new book.

  • Death Proof. Tarantinos latest flick in the theaters now.
