Control

I enjoyed every bit of Control by Anton Corbijn. What a fantastic debut as a director. I have been fan of Joy Division for many years and of course I was thrilled when I heard about this movie portraying Ian Curtis. My expectations were high and I wasn't let down. It's really not just a film for Joy Division fans. There's some great acting by Sam Riley and Samantha Morton, and the black and white pictures are beautifully composed.

The new Cat Power album is really good. My only problem is that the first three tracks are so incredibly good that I keep listening to them over and over again, and never get past them.

Beirut, Burial and books

The Beirut show was not what I expected it to be. Zach Condon was sick, had a very weak voice and because of that he did'nt perform all the songs himself. The band played very well and that was what made my evening. Since, theres been a lot of talk about the show should have been cancelled. I tend to agree.

Attended the annual bookfair and catched and interview with Jonathan Lethem. I have a weakness for Brooklyn authors, Paul Auster, Jonathan Safran Foer etc. I really enjoyed the novel Motherless Brooklyn and it was interesting hearing about his newly translated novel The Fortress of Solitude, his Brooklyn childhood and the racial tensions then and now in America.

Right now I'm reading swedish author Jonas Hassen Khemiri's: Montecore: en unik tiger. The language is amazing and fun!

Can't stop listening to Archangel from the new Burial release Untrue. I'ts soooo good and the rest of the album is great too. Probably the best electronica release this year...

Deer blog

There's a lot going on at Deerhunter's blog right now. Their singer Bradford Cox is posting like mad. Lots of mp3's, mixes, playlists, pictures and stuff.
Remember they are playing at Loppen 12/11. Unfortunately I will only be there in spirit. Too much going on i november for me already.

Just read that Iron & Wine will be visiting Vega, Copenhagen 25/1. Yay!

Album releases

...this autumn, that I probably can't live without.

Animal Collective Strawberry Jam. I only recently got into them, now I'm hooked on this truly strange and playful music.

Band of Horses Cease to begin. The former album was one of my favourites last year.

Beirut The flying club cub. Apparantly it's quite different to the balkan sound on the former album Gulag Orkestar. This one is inspired by Jacques Brel and the french chancons.

Efterklang Parades. Dreamy and beautiful nordic sounds.

Iron & Wine Sheperd's dog. I absolutely love the new track Boy with a coin.

PJ Harvey White chalk. The coolest woman in rawk. She played some of the new material at her latest performance in Copenhagen, and it left me craving for more.

Sigur Ros Hvarf/Heim. A favourite band of mine since their release of Ægætis byrjun in 2000. Always a pleasure to listen to this great icelandic band.
